Borserio Family's Summer Pasture

Thanks to the combination of memory, Google Earth and local knowledge of an Italian Taxi driver we found our way to our ancestor's summer pasture in the mountain range above Tirano. We were fortunate not only to be blessed finding the place but doing so in absolutely glorious sunny Spring weather. The view from the summer pasture is stunning looking over the Valtalleni Valley towards Lake Como and the Bernina Pass into Switzerland. The Borserio's stone summer house remains but is fast falling into disrepair. A real shame after centuries sitting in this beautiful location. A magnificent way to bring to an end the exploration of Gary and cousin Joan's Italian roots.

Medieval Tirano

Visited Great Grandfather's ancestral house At Villa di Tirano, Lombardia, Sondrio, Italy

Gary's cousin, Joan Hatfield, with Gary & Joan checked out the former home of the Borserio family at Villa di Tirano, Lombardia, Sondrion, Italy.  Our great grandfather, Giovanni Borserio,  migrated to Australia from the village in 1864.  The structure of the house most probably dates back to the 17 century and is currently being restored and modernised by its new owner.  The photos below are taken in and around the house.
